- What is a design feature endorsement?
- A design feature endorsement lets you operate aircraft with a particular design feature — such as a retractable undercarriage, manual propeller pitch control, a gas turbine engine or pressurisation. Each feature requires its own endorsement.
- Do design feature endorsements expire?
- No. Once you hold a design feature endorsement it stays on your licence. You still need to remain current on the class rating and meet the usual recency and flight review requirements.
- How long does an endorsement take?
- It depends on the feature and your experience. Most endorsements involve a ground briefing covering the systems plus a flight or two demonstrating safe and competent operation.
- Can I do more than one endorsement at a time?
- Yes. Many aircraft combine features — for example a retractable gear aircraft with a constant speed propeller — so multiple endorsements can often be completed together.
- Where does the training happen?
- All training is conducted out of Jandakot Airport in Perth, Western Australia.
